As Christians, we often say we want to serve God and walk in Holiness.
However, we quickly realize that this isnt something that just happens overnight. Its something we must work on. And, many of us will be working on it until our dying day. Holiness is not something that just all of a sudden manifests itself in our lives. If you think this, then you need to think again. To be holy, we must study Gods Word, commit it to memory, and then practice what weve learned. Or, as some would say, "We need to practice what we preach, or what weve been preached to."
Maybe you are a new believer. If so, you will find some things in the Word of God will come easy to you while other things may be very difficult to master. But yet, all things are attainable to you if you dont give up. For instance, not a one of us was born with the knowledge of the Alphabet or what it meant to know our ABCs . We learned them by reciting them over and over. Did we recite them perfectly the first few times? Absolutely not! We skipped letters here and there. But we didnt give up. We committed ourselves to practicing and saying them out loud until we learned each one. So should it be with the Word of God. We dont just automatically know the Word of God once we become born again. But, if we keep reading the scriptures and saying them out loud, we will learn them, just as we did the Alphabet.
If you are one of those Christians, like we said at the beginning of this article, who wants to walk in Holiness you need to study Gods Word and practice what you learn. Practice makes perfect and if you strive for perfection you will become holy. And always remember, if you fall, get back up and try again.
Matthew 5:48:
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
We have not forgotten the ABCs we learned as a child and neither shall we forget the Word of God once we have learned it. For when we have read it and quoted it enough, it will be committed to our memory forever!
